how do you remove a 1978 f150s body side trim?

well mainly the right way so i know when i go to a you-pull. i kinda just manhandled it off and bent it all up. i tried pulling it and pushing it towards both the front and rear of the truck. i tried poping the bottom off first then the top. never seen any crazy clips like what they use

1. very carefully is the answer.....you need something firm yet thin..I used two spatula's( yes the kind you flip eggs with ) one on top and one on bottom of the trim. wherever there is a clip, you use the spatula on top and bottom to slip in and compress the spring...thus releasing the trim. I ended up going without my trim and smoothed out the clips......looked pretty sweet.
2. There should be a trim tool to do that,you should be able to get one at the parts house.
3. The side trim can be removed by a pair of pliers by going between the double walled body panels,have done it many times it is time consuming you have to clamp the sides of the clip and push outward at the same time as you do this they will pop out one at a time,it is a pain to do.
