This may be a stupid question, but why do Youtube videos take so long to process?

sometimes even when they are tiny?

  1. could be your computer, or the network at Youtube could have been running slow at the time. If the file is like under a minute long though, it shouldnt take more than like 3-5 minutes to process, no matter how slow your PC is.
  2. because first of all uploading the video can take 1-5 minutes per megabyte. then youtube has to convert your video to a different type so all videos on the site are the same. lastly, youtube receives many video submissions which have to be reviewed, converted, and uploaded. so if you add it up it can take a while
  3. they have to be screened for any content that violates the privacy policy.
  4. it deoends on what video you are trying to bring up..the longer one takes longer time and so on.... :D
  5. Because youtube videos are not stored in your computer, you have to download them from youtube server. the speed of downloading depends on the speed of your internet connection. you can watch youtube videos while they are downloading - this is called streaming video. Streaming videos require high speed or broadband connections for a smooth playback. The players (adobe flash player) which play this streaming videos buffer them before playing them i.e, they download 5 or 10 secs of video bits, store them in your computer and then play. On slow connections, all of these activities will be slow and so the video playback is sluggish. While on a faster connection, all of these activities will happen at a good speed and hence a smooth playback. I have a suggestion, just wait until the whole video gets buffered (downloaded) and press replay to watch a smooth playback.
  6. it depends on your connection speed and also the file size you're uploading... the smaller the file the faster you can upload... It is recommended that you upload wmv file format... good quality and smaller size.. so faster upload... and faster processing. --- Using windows movie maker -- you have to save it into the proper file format, that is wmv file (use the "save movie file" on the menu at the top left) before upload.. --for editing.... use windows movie maker (included in your windows machine)... it can help you make beautiful slideshow or video clip(e.g. mixing your songs with pictures/video/etc).... then save it as video file such as wmv file format... finally upload. or .. Just get those clips you want , save & convert them, and then mix/match with pix/sound/etc using windows movie maker to create new masterpieces.... this will help you.... Use 'zillatube'. This is the easiest (and also the fastest) way. Zillatube produces mpg/mp3 formats from youtube that are compatible with windows movie maker(or media player), and more. It is very easy to download and convert videos. Then edit those converted mp3/mpg videos with windows movie maker... save your file as wmv and then upload. It works very well....just google search for "zillatube" =============================♥♥♥
